Why You Need an Air-Supplied System

If you’re spraying in any enclosed booth or garage, standard charcoal masks don’t protect you from long-term exposure. After years of using half-masks, I upgraded to an Allegro air-supplied respirator system. It filters clean air from outside the booth and delivers it straight to the mask — no carbon filters, no recycled air.

Step-by-Step Installation

  1. Mount the Pump Outside the Booth. Keep it in a clean air zone. Mount securely — the pump has weight.
  2. Run the Hose Through the Wall. Use PVC for a clean pass-through and to protect the hose.
  3. Add a Hose Holder. Keeps the line off the floor and out of the booth when not in use.
  4. Wire the Power. The system doesn’t include a switch, so I used a heavy-duty power strip with a toggle. Makes it easy to control the pump.
  5. Test the System. The Allegro runs about 6 PSI of fresh air — enough to keep your mask supplied without back pressure.

What’s in My Setup

  • Allegro Air Supply Pump
  • 50-foot Allegro Breathing Hose
  • Allegro 9901 Full-Face Mask
  • Allegro 9910-D Supplied Air Hood
  • PVC Wall Pass-Through
  • Heavy-Duty Power Strip with Switch

Why It’s Worth Doing

Breathing clean air isn’t just about comfort — it’s about longevity. Since switching, I’ve noticed cleaner paint finishes, less fatigue, and no heavy chemical smell after long spray sessions. Once you use a supplied air system, you won’t go back.
