40+ Years of Automotive Experience. Real Projects. Real Knowledge.
I'm Troy Kane, and I've spent more than four decades working on cars, motorcycles, engines, paint, and just about everything else that comes through a garage.
I'm an ASE Certified Master Automotive Technician and Master Collision Repair Technician. Over the years, I've owned and operated a traditional speed shop, collision repair center, automotive service center, and fast-lube business. I've also worked as a licensed automotive appraiser in Massachusetts and Connecticut.
But first and foremost, I'm an automotive enthusiast.
V-Twins to V-8s started with my passion for American motorcycles, classic cars, and performance machines.
Today, it's where I share that experience with enthusiasts, do-it-yourselfers, and anyone who enjoys working with their hands.
Whether I'm working on my '66 Impala SS, troubleshooting a fuel injection problem, spraying automotive clearcoat, installing new shop equipment, or testing a tool, I believe there's value in showing the actual process.
Not just the finished product, but what works, what doesn't, and what I've learned along the way.
You'll find hands-on automotive videos, technical how-to articles, restoration projects, shop demonstrations, and reviews of tools and equipment I use.
I cover everything from engines, brakes, and drivetrain systems to custom painting, fabrication, maintenance, and the occasional piece of automotive history.
My goal is simple: share useful information, explain why things work the way they do, and help others get more out of their own projects.

If you're looking for practical advice, troubleshooting information, or step-by-step demonstrations, explore my Tools & Tips articles for techniques and information you can put to use in your own garage.
One of the things I enjoy most about what I do today is getting the opportunity to try new tools, equipment, and automotive products—and share those experiences with you.
Sometimes it's something I've purchased for my own projects. Other times, it's a product provided by a manufacturer or part of a brand collaboration.
Either way, my approach is the same: put it to work, demonstrate how it performs, and share what I learn along the way.
I'm interested in showing how products actually work in a real garage, not just reading specifications off a box.
I also work with brands and manufacturers whose products are relevant to the projects I take on and the people who follow my content.
For companies interested in working together, you can learn more on my Brand Partnerships page.
After more than 40 years in the automotive industry, I've learned that there's always something new to discover.
Technology changes. Tools improve. New techniques come along.
And sometimes the old ways still work best.
That's what makes this interesting.
I don't claim to know everything, but I do believe in sharing what I've learned through real-world experience.
Take a look around. Explore Our Work, discover hands-on demonstrations and technical articles in
Tools & Tips, or see the tools and equipment I use in my own garage.
There's always something happening at V-Twins to V-8s, and you're welcome to come along for the ride.
