If you're looking for a really good pair of work boots, here's the part of this review that matters most:

I started wearing BRUNT DiStasio work boots in my shop in 2023. These weren't boots I wore occasionally or tested for a couple of weeks. They were used around grinding, welding, fabrication, oil, dirt and the everyday abuse that comes with working on cars and motorcycles.
They also spent a lot of time where work boots really get tested: on concrete floors.
After three years of wearing them, I had enough experience with the DiStasio to know whether I wanted another pair.
I did.
This time, I went with the BRUNT DiStasio composite toe work boot.
When I look at work boots, I'm not particularly interested in hype.
I want boots that are comfortable enough to wear all day and durable enough that I'm not replacing them constantly.
Working in an automotive restoration and fabrication shop can be hard on footwear. You're dealing with metal, sparks, grinding debris, oil and other fluids while spending hours standing and walking on concrete.
That's where I used my original DiStasio boots.
Three years of that kind of use is what convinced me to buy them again.
That's probably the strongest recommendation I can give them.
For my second pair, I upgraded to the composite safety toe version.
I've worn traditional steel toe boots over the years, and they certainly have their place. But a composite safety toe has a couple of advantages that matter when you're wearing work boots all day.
The first is weight.
Both steel and composite safety toes can be designed to meet applicable ASTM impact and compression standards. The difference is that a composite toe provides that protection without using a traditional steel cap.
Less weight on your feet might not seem like a big deal when you're trying boots on.
Eight or ten hours later, it matters.
The other advantage is temperature.
Composite materials don't conduct heat and cold the same way steel does. If you've ever worn steel toe boots in a cold shop or outside during winter, you probably know exactly why that matters.
For the kind of work I do, they've been a very good fit.
My shop involves automotive restoration, mechanical work, welding, grinding and fabrication. I need a boot that can handle more than walking around on a clean shop floor.
The DiStasio is a 9-inch work boot, giving you additional coverage around the ankle and lower leg. That's particularly useful when you're welding and grinding because sparks and hot debris are part of the job.
The composite-toe DiStasio also features waterproof construction, reinforced protection around the toe and heel, and an outsole designed for traction around the kinds of surfaces encountered on jobsites and in shops.
Those aren't just specification-sheet features when you're working around cars. Oil, water, metal debris and dirty concrete floors are normal parts of the environment.
This is a big one.
If you work as a mechanic, fabricator, welder or technician, you can spend most of your day standing on concrete.
A work boot can look great and have every safety feature imaginable, but if your feet are killing you halfway through the day, none of that matters very much.
Comfort was one of the reasons I stayed with the DiStasio.
More importantly, I already knew from experience that these boots worked for the way I use them.
That's something you can't determine from a specification sheet.
You determine it after wearing the boots day after day.

One feature I particularly like from a longevity standpoint is the Goodyear welt construction.
A welted boot can potentially be resoled rather than throwing away the entire boot simply because you've worn through the sole. If you're buying boots with the intention of actually working in them for years, that's worth considering.

They're especially worth considering if you spend long days on concrete and want the protection of a safety toe without automatically going to a traditional steel toe boot.
For me, yes.
And I'm basing that on something much more useful than an unboxing or a week-long product test.
I wore them for three years and bought them again.

When it was finally time for another pair, I didn't go searching for something completely different.
I went back to the DiStasio and upgraded to the composite toe version.
If you're looking for a serious work boot for mechanical, fabrication or trade work, the BRUNT DiStasio should be on your list.
Work boots are tools. They need to protect your feet, remain comfortable through a long day and hold up to the environment where you actually work.
After three years of using the DiStasio in my shop, that's why I'm still wearing them.
