Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses

The Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses have become one of those tools I didn't realize would be this useful until I started using them in the shop.

Their biggest advantage for automotive content is simple: they let me record exactly what I'm seeing while keeping both hands free.

I use them during repairs, tool demonstrations and especially automotive diagnostics. When I'm working with a scan tool, viewers can see the screen from my perspective while I navigate menus, check trouble codes and look at live data.

They're also great for quick POV driving footage and capturing spontaneous moments when there isn't enough time to grab a phone or set up another camera.

They're not a replacement for my regular cameras. They're another camera that can get shots my other cameras can't.

The camera follows where your head is pointed, not where your eyes are looking, so there's a little learning curve when framing close-up work.

I also wouldn't use them as a replacement for a dedicated camera or action camera when I have time to properly set up a shot. Their strength is convenience and first-person perspective.

For me, they're at their best when setting up another camera would interfere with what I'm doing—or when something happens and I only have seconds to capture it.
